What fun activities do you do with glow sticks?
I'm starting to discover there are many fun activities that you can do with glow sticks.
For example, today we used them a couple of ways today for a fun bath.
1-The top picture was made by cutting open the glow stick and pouring the liquid into water. Close the lid and you have a glowing lantern. I put it by the side of the tub to give some cool light.
2-The second picture is self explanitory. Let the glow sticks light up the bath.
What have you done with glow sticks to make a fun kid activity? Please share.
We've done the bath tub too, but I haven't seen the lantern yet. Interesting. I have a couple packages of glow sticks that are waiting until I can figure out somehting fun to do with them. I hope you get some good ideas!
ReplyDeleteOhhhh that looks like fun! Is the liquid non-toxic in the glow sticks? I may have to try that!

We did the bathtub too. We also did a glow in the dark glow stick hide and seek. http://noncreativemom.wordpress.com/2012/01/08/light-table-and-glow-in-the-dark-hide-seek/
ReplyDeleteWe also put lit glow sticks in balloons and then tossed those around in a dark room. My 4 yr old loved that.
That sounds like fun. I've got to try those. They sound great.
ReplyDeleteHi - glowing activities are tons of fun and kids love them. I do want to issue a small caution about opening up glow sticks. They aren't meant to be cut open and contain chemicals and glass shards. Even when they say "non-toxic" on the packaging. The chemicals can still cause burns, rashes and eye irritations. ReplyDeleteSqueezing highlighter ink and using a black light is safer than cutting open a glow stick
I've never hear of using highlighter ink. That's a great idea. Thanks for the warning on glow sticks.
