Magnetic painting

 Magnetic painting

I couldn't believe how much both my girls loved this activity.  Fluttershy usually will try a art project but will loose interest in it pretty quickly.  With this activity she kept asking to make more.  The best part is it was so easy.

  1. Tape your paper to a glass cake pan.
  2. Pour some paint onto the paper.
  3. Now use a magnet on the paper and one under the glass pan to drag around your paper smearing the paint around.

Paul Bunyans' wood Pile & Black Rock Dessert

Summer Adventures
Paul Bunyan's wood pile

On Saturdays we loaded up the kids and took an adventure.  Our first stop was to Paul Bunyan's wood pile a very interesting hike up to an unusual lava formation.  The lava formed into 4 and 5 sided long tubes that look like logs.  It was a 1 mile hike.  the first part was easy, but as you can see by the point we ended, it turned into a really steep hike.
Can you see our tiny car in the distance?
 Here it is zoomed up.
One section of the formation had fallen away, making a arch.
Not sure what this creepy huge bug was, but they were everywhere. I think they were crickets.
Our next several stops had to do with collecting Obsidian in the Black Rock Dessert.
We make sever stops on the way and found lots of little smaller stones.  We were very excited to find them.  Little did we know that our last stop would be the best stop of all.
In this Obsidian quarry we found the most interesting mahogany obsidian. Very beautiful stuff.  The girls were excitedly collecting their treasures in a gushers fruit snacks container.
Fluttershy couldn't resist sliding down the giant hill of obsidian.
Look at the neat designs.  Along our journey we found black, snowflake, and mahogany obsidian.
Look in the picture above just below Fluttershy at the pile of huge pieces Daniel unearthed.  After we collected a huge bucket of our treasures we headed home.  What a fun trip we had.

A trip to the Farm

 Wheeler Farm
While we were out at Wheeler farm we saw the cuties Shetland pony babies.  There were two and the one on the right was only 1 month old.  He was so tiny.  Fluttershy wanted to ride him she kept saying she wanted to ride him.  We let her ride an adult one though.

Rarity got to ride her first horse today.  She was very excited to climb right on.
We enjoyed the little lambs, goats, turkeys, geese, horses, and a really ugly rat.

Sensory rocks

 Sensory rocks

This collection of rocks I got from my grandpa when I was little.  I think I loved playing with it as much as my girls do.  Rarity loved digging through and looking at each one.  Some are smooth, some are rough, and there are every color of the rainbow.  Just some fun pictures of her enjoying their great grandpa's rocks.

Sorting

 Sorting time

At age 2 years 5 months, Rarity is really starting to understand her colors. She get's most of them right by name.  When she sorts she's right on.  Sorting each color to the right cup each time.  She really does enjoy this activity.
While Rarity was sorting, Fluttershy was creating works of art on the computer using abcya.com .
