Spider Webs

Week 9: Day 3

Projects: Spiderweb, Blind blocks, Fruit loop necklaces.

Scissor practicing
While Fluttershy practiced with her scissors Rarity did Stacking cups.
Counting worksheet that Fluttershy did. She's been getting better every day with counting and number recognition.

Spider Webs- We created these using a marble, black paint and a paper plate.  We rolled the marble around till we got the affect we wanted.

Fruit Loop Necklaces- I think the thing they were both most excited for with this activity was they had to pick out and eat all the marshmallows.  When I went to buy the cereal the kind with marshmallows was on sale so I bought it.

Block Fun
Blind Blocks- Without looking at the shape, I had Fluttershy tell you what shape it was..
Rarity perfecting her stacking.

Computer fun

Zucchini Bread
Nothing makes the house smell like home like something baking in the oven.  Fluttershy was my official mixer.  She loved when I had her help with the mixer. The hardest part for her was waiting for the bread to cool so she could have a sample.

Here is the recipe for the Zucchini Bread.

Bubbles

Week 9: Day 2

Sorting, problem solving, and matching:
Here we are using puzzle cards. They have 3 pieces to every picture. I've laid out the cards in random order and had Fluttershy first pick out the three that look alike, and then put the cards in order so that they make the picture. This is a really good activity to help them learn learn problem solving.

While her sister worked on the puzzles I let Rarity stack blocks.

Coloring Time:
Halloween coloring page colored by Fluttershy.

Pre Writing Skills-
Fluttershy continuing to learn control with a pencil.

Number 1-
On this worksheet your asked to count the animals and circle the picture that has only one animal. Next they can color the page.

Computer Time
Both my girls love to play on the computer. I've found some really neat games that are age appropriate for both girls.

Youtube.com great resource for learning videos. This one is the
Days of the week.
Fluttershy likes to sing along with the video.

Aven's Corner has Counting, mouse control, shapes, keyboard learning.
There's a cute game in there we love that is like the old asteroids game. But in stead of just shooting the asteroids, each has a letter on it and to shoot it you have to press the same letter on the keyboard. There is a kids and adult version of this game and I'd have to say the adult version is pretty hard. You have to type words instead of letters. It's fun to try though.

Another Youtube alphabet video.
Not shown her but one we like is The A song

Zac the Rat. A Starfall.com book. Starfall has many fun interactive video for kids. This one tells a story that has animations as well as if you click on the words it sounds them out for you.

Bubbles
Free Play in the kitchen sink. I provided the water, bubbles, cups, whisk, and sponges. And they created the games. Rarity needed a clothing change afterward, but they had lots of fun. Note: next time I will place a towel under their chairs. Messy, but worth it.

Ghost Hands
Halloween is in a week so we've been working on decorations. These ghost hands are both fun and easy. My kids love anything that they can get their hands dirty. We used the Crayola washable finger paints.

*Cooking Fun*
While the paint was drying we made Peanut butter cookies. The recipe came from Martha Stewart.
