Making puffy paint
What you need:
1/2 cup flour
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. salt
Food coloring
Cardboard
Mix the flour, baking powder and salt together. Add a little water at a time until you get a smooth paste consistency. Divide your paste into 4 bowls and add food coloring. Mix well.
Once you have made your paints, cut out cardboard squares. Now paint your masterpieces. The paint can be left thick or thin. The thicker it is though, the better effect you'll get. Once your done painting place your cardboard in the microwave and cook for 10-30 seconds until the paint puffs. Let it cool and your art piece if ready for display.
Wow that is really cool! I'm totally pinning this :)

ReplyDeleteI love your idea!!!, and I share another:
ReplyDelete1 cup flour
1 cup water
1 cup salt
Paint your favorite colors food
Mix flour, salt and water, divided into several containers colored with different colors
Use an applicator bottle (like the hair dye).
Is very colorful and looks dry fluffy and shiny,
Is recommended when you use card stock in dark colors like black or blue as the colors stand out.
It's wonderful to practice fine motor coordination, it promotes art and creativity.
I am a preschool teacher for 10 years and my students ask me this technique over and over again.
The numbers and letters may be performed with this painting.
Enjoy it!
We'll have to give this a try. Sound like something my daughters would have fun doing. Thanks for sharing.
