Week Wrap-Up September 3-7 2012

Weekly Wrap-Up

We've have a great second week of preschool. We learned some new things and have started dance class.  Friday was a fun day. The girls started their dance classes.  Fluttershy stared pre-dance which is ballet and tap.  She was so excited to try her new tap shoes.  I let her try them on right before we went.  She gave them a try in our kitchen with has a concrete floor.  She found them to be quite slippery.  Hopefully she'll find them fun and easier to stay standing up at class.  Rarity started a Mommy & Me dance/gymnastics class.  She was so excited to have her own dance class and her own dance outfit.  For all the years that Fluttershy has done dance she's had to watch from the stroller which frustrated her.  She wanted to be part of her classes.  This year she was old enough for her own Mommy & Me class.  She started out like a little pro.  After watching Fluttershy she knew what to do.  We will have so much fun this year in dance with both my little dancers. This week we also watched our Monarch Butterfly emerge from it's cocoon and let her fly away.

Fluttershy's accomplishments this week:

  • We started Saxon K math-  which was a hit.  Fluttershy really loved the manipulative's.  We've just got our feel wet with the whole idea of math.  We'll continue to work slowly through the book as long as she's still excited and wanting to.

  • The Ordinary Parent's Guide To Teaching Reading- Fluttershy finished lesson 45 with confidence.  Reading words with blends of FT, LT, CT, and PT.  She can now read words like Left, Melt, Act, and Kept.

  • Finished I See Sam Set 2 Book 3.

Rarity fun tot school activities:

  • Learned about the letter B.

  • Learning to cut with scissors.

  • Motor skills- lacing beads.

  • Puzzle solving.

  • A rainbow sensory bin.
