December is the best month of the year. Candy making, decorating, crafts, family, and presents. To start off the month and help the girls get excited for Christmas we made these countdown chains.
To create a Christmas Countdown Chain:
What you need: Red and green construction paper - cut into 1”x8” strips to make 12 and 13 strips of each color (totalling 25 strips), glue, a marker, scissors
What to do: Write the numbers 1-25 on the strips, alternating colors between numbers
Link the colors together to form a chain using the glue.
Tear off a link each day (starting with the highest number).
Each day, count the links that are left.
haha i just put up a post about our advent calendar. Have fun counting down the days! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a cute idea! I used to make the chain as a kid, but the countdown is a great addition!

Very cute! I use to do this with my little ones.
ReplyDeleteFollowing FNFW blog hop. I am your newest GFC follower.
Super cute! I did something similar last year but I never took a picture.
ReplyDeleteI'm doing a December to Remember series and I might be adding a link-up soon if you would like to join :)
Cute!!! I do 24 days of giving, so I've put up 24 envelopes with the giving activities we are to do as a family together. Monday-Friday it's usually something simple, as my husband has a job that is pretty far away, so I try not to make it too demanding. On the weekends, we do more extravagant stuff.
ReplyDeleteExamples:
- Gift in the mailbox for mailman
- Stop by the children's hospital to read books to the kids, play some games and pass out Christmas Cards with a small stuffed animal
- Take donuts and hot chocolate to the police station
- Take breakfast to the senior center in our town
Etc...
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I love the paper chain countdown idea. For our "countdown" I put 24 candycanes on the tree that are hung upside down to make a J shape, then put a baby Jesus in a manger in the nook of the J shape and wrote a number on it. Each day my son gets to take the candy cane off. Our calendar also helps. I printed out the calendar printables from Christian Preschool Printables, and the manger is empty until day 25! Too cute!! :)

I have very fond memories of making paper chains as a kid! Neat idea to use it as a countdown! Following via GFC from http://lifelossandotherthings.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteWhat a GREAT idea! I've seen this done as a countdown for military children waiting for their Daddy/Mommy to come home. Never thought of using it for Christmas! Thanks!
