Weekly Wrap-Up November 12-16, 2012

Weekly Wrap-Up

November 12-16, 2012

This week was a little laid back.  We did our reading lessons and math, but didn't quite get to as many of the projects I'd hoped for. Fluttershy has been full of questions.  As we were driving home from Great Grandmas house on Tuesday I took note of her questions because she was throwing them out so fast that I couldn't answer them before she asked the next question.  In a 5 minute period of time I'm sure she asked 20-30 questions.  Since I was driving I couldn't write down all her questions, but I remember a series of 5 that she rambles off so fast I didn't even have time to answer before the next one came.  It started something like this.  "Where are all the other horses in the field?, Why do people live on the hill?,  Why are there pumpkins still out on their porch?,  What is that?,  What are we going to do after nap?."  It just kept going and going at lightning speed.  I wonder if she really wants answers our does she just love talking?  I try to answer everything she asks, but I wonder sometimes.

Fluttershy:

  • In science this week we covered absorption.  To get the new term explained we did an experiment where the girls each had a mitten and a plastic bag to put over their hands to dip into our bowl of water.  They got to decide which item absorbed the water.  They both giggled when the mitten hand got wet.  We played for a bit on the bowl then colored our student page.  For our next activity in science we picked 4 items to test which would absorb water.  We chose a plate, tin foil, rag, and a sponge.  Then we dropped water onto it with our dropper.  We had fun during our experiments, but the real fun happened shortly after on our way to Grandma's house.  As we were walking to the car Rarity was wearing her cloth boots she picked out and promptly ran over to the slide which had water pooled at the bottom.  And then before I had a chance to see what she was about to do, started jumping in the giant puddle of water with her boots, which quickly absorbed the water. Before changing her boots to nice dry ones, we discussed how that water absorbed right through the boots to Rarities feet.  Great living and unplanned lesson.
