Teaching Children Joy: Body Part 7

Teaching Children Joy: Body Part 7
Use and development of bodily skills

Learn to catch a ball

Few abilities give a child a greater sense of physical confidence and satisfaction.

Here is our basket.  I placed it low and made it an easy target for a nice confidence booster.  Rarity got good at slam dunking it.

Dancing and marching

Using a variety of music, ranging from ballet to pop,  I played a music for the girls to march to the beat.  Another fun way to encourage dance is to make rainbow dancers.

To make our rainbow dancers I took a large hair elastic and tied ribbons of 24" of a variety of colors to it dangling.  The girls like to put them on their wrists and ankles and make the ribbons dance and twirl.
When I put their rainbow dancers on their ankles they decided to run around as fast as they could around the room.  Today was fun.  I tried to encourage freedom of movement.  Children are less uninhibited than we are as adults.  A fun activity to break of any day is to put some music on with a fun beat and let the kids go free.
