Color Mixing Foam

Color mixing foam

Color mixing activity (outdoor activity)

The purpose of this activity is to teach your child how colors mix.

Instructions:

Let your child mix 3 separate bowls or ice cream buckets with shaving cream and food coloring.  Mix a Red, a Yellow, and a blue bowl.  Once you’ve mixed these up let your child create their own colors by mixing these colors together using their hands.  Provide a few more bowls for mixing them together.

This is a fun way to introduce color mixing as well as a great sensory activity.

Ooey gooey foaming fun!   Between the mixing and getting their hands all messy the girls managed to create their own games with our foaming colors.  By the time our activity was over they were nice a wet.  How else would you expect a 2 and 4 year old to clean off their hand but in the sprinkler.

  1. Hopping over here from For Love of Cupcakes. Shaving cream is such a great medium for kids. Using it to teach color mixing is so inspired! It looks like your kids had a blast with it.
