2013-2014 Workbox Schedule

This year for Kindergarten, I thought Fluttershy would have fun with using workboxes. My sweet husband built our workboxes. And they are so nice.  We're really excited to give the workboxes a try this year.

I plan on keeping it really simple and easy.  Everyday she'll have 7 boxes she'll work through. Some boxes she'll easily work through by herself (Explode the Code & fun boxes)  and some I'll work through with her (Math & Science). At the start of the day we'll read together and do our reading lessons.  After that she'll get to work through the boxes in order and take as much or as little time as she needs.  This will help us to move at her pace and keep it more enjoyable for her. Each box will has a removable card for her to remove when she has finished a box.  The card will be placed on her finished sheet.  This will help her to visually see how much school she has left in the day.

We have enough bins that I only need to fill her boxes on Sunday night before our school week.  The rest of the week we will be able to just work through our lessons without any other prep time. She'll also have a different fun workbox each day. I think having fun boxes will break up our routine and keep her looking forward to something new every day.  Her fun boxes will include things like play-do, legos, snacks, puzzles, movie, games, stickers, coloring book, educational toys, etc. Pinterest is full of fun printables too to add to her boxes too. Here is a glance at what we'll be doing every day.

Fluttershy is very ambitious and moves rather fast through most of the activities I've done with her.  We'll see how things go, but I imagine our school day will last 2-3 hours a day.  Then we can allow the rest of the day for field trips, nature walks, trip to the library, gymnastics, or to visit grandparents.   Kindergarten should be all about having fun.  This should be a fun year.
