Popped ball

New year, New ChoresAs the new year is about to start, I have come up with a new way for the girls to do chores.  This new system came to be while we were trying to figure out how Fluttershy was going to earn money to buy a new hop ball.  (I'll include the story about the last hop ball at the bottom)  I picked two personal care items and 4 items she can earn money when she does them.  Each morning when the girls get up they get to check what items they get to do for the day and they can go them when they want.  As soon as they have finished one, that card is removed from their own board and hung up on their done hook.  On Friday night we will count up all the earning money chores and pay them.  We have created a chart for Fluttershy to keep track of her progress as she gets closer to earning the money for her new hop ball.

Fluttershy and Rarity each have a card for getting themselves dressed and teeth brushed in the morning.  Then Rarity's card pretty much stay the same for the week.  she needs to clear her plate after meals and help clean up toys before nap time.  Fluttershy gets 4 chores a day that her earn money.  Each chore will earn her 10 cents so at the end of the week she can earn $2.00 a week.  Her chores included feeding the dog, straightening up the coat and shoe area, sorting the laundry, clearing her dishes when she's done eating, set table, fold towels, and empty bathroom garbage.  I think these will be simple and easy tasks for her and she'll be able to accomplish these easily.

So now for the hop ball story.  For her birthday Fluttershy got a hop ball, which she loved from the first hop.  She's always hopping on it. I sure felt bad for her when she came crying in with her dad who was carrying the hop ball with my little battery operated candle sticking out of it.  (Note:  This was the same little candle that I had asked both girls to leave on the shelf and not play with it). Someone apparently wasn't listening when they left the candle on the floor. When we asked Fluttershy what mommy asked her not to do with the candle she promptly answered that she wasn't supposed have played with it.  We asked her what she should do now.  First she asked if we'd buy her a new one.   We felt that because of the circumstances in which it popped, that she would have to come up with her own money.  (Hopefully a lesson will be learned) After we asked her a second time what she should do, she did come up with the idea of using her own money.  Problem was she didn't have more than $1.50.  She agreed that she would be willing to work for extra money. So that is where the new chore chart comes in.  Time will tell if they both can catch on and without too much leading it (at least Fluttershy) can work semi independent.
