Make way for duckings

3-10Make way for duckings

We decided this year to raise ducklings.  Fluttershy pronounces it "Duck el ings" and Rarity calls them "duckies".  The girls and I named ours after children's book duck characters and  Daniel went for the abstract and called his Cracker. Fluttershy's is Little Quack, Rarity's is Puddle duck and mine is Jamima (supposed to be Jamima puddle Duck after one of the Beatrix Potter books), but Rarity really wanted the Puddle Duck part.  After we picked them up, Fluttershy talked no stop most of our 45 minute drive home asking every question she could think of.  She informed us too that "a dry duck is an unhappy duck".  Guess she picked something up from last weeks library books.  We checked out every duck book the library had in preparation for this week.  There friendly little ducks.  Cracker however, seems to be the most friendly as I had trouble getting a picture of him because he wouldn't leave me alone long enough to snap his picture.  He wanted to sit on my lap.  We've got two Pekin and two Mallards (we think).  The store didn't know.

Fluttershy loved being a duck mommy and was quite distraught when she had to go to bed that night.  They're cute little things and will be fun for the next several months.  This is what we are going to do all week for Preschool.

  1. Cute, cute, cute!
I thought about it this year; but I think we will try some next year. We were at Tractor Supply yesterday oogling them.
