DIY lacing toys

These lacing toys are so simple to make.  I made the in only a few minutes minus getting them laminated.  

I just just used clip art from the Microsoft clip art website. There are a lot of other sites of the web that offer free clip art.  Find some cute ones you like, print, laminate (use the thickest kind you can have done),  and punch holes.  Instant lacing toys.  A very inexpensive way to make your own toys for your kiddos.   Use yarn or shoe lace strings to lace.  We were fortunate that my husband had just recently bought shoes that came with a second set of laces so I used those.  They turned out really cute.  

I was thinking you could also make lacing toys that could go with what ever theme you are doing.  You could do some of the alphabet or numbers or animals.  I've been thinking about doing farm animals.  The kids would like those.  Great for preschool and for a nice quiet activity for church. 

Going along with the Thanksgiving theme month we made this Thanksgiving tree out of my kiddos hand prints. 

Fluttershy's thankful for list in her words: Blue berry (her stuffed animal monkey), My dog, Dad, Sugar glider "Penny", and snow. 

Rarity's list:  Fruit loops (she held up her fruit loops when I asked her), Puppa (our dog), and her blankie.

My thankful for list would include: My hard working husband, my kids, family, and freedom.

Hand print Turkeys

Art- Thanksgiving Turkeys

You'll need: Construction paper, colors or paints

Either draw around your child's hand and allow them to color the inside or paint the hand and create a hand print.  

Turkey Hands

I am so grateful for my children.  They bring so much meaning to my life.  We have so much fun together.  Fluttershy can instantly bring a smile to my face. From her funny fake yawns letting me know she's awake from her naps to her cute ways she talks.  Instead of saying at bedtime "don't let the bedbugs bite" she says "let the bedbugs bit." It's a fun age to watch them learn the world around them.  She's always learning something new and is always surprising me with her knowledge. 

There are so many fun Thanksgiving worksheets and activities.  We printed this worksheet off of preschool palace.  This was a color by number turkey.

With all the turkeys we've been making, I'm going to have to dedicate a wall to our flock by the end of the month.

My hope is that through the month of November I can help my preschooler a I and become more aware of the things that we are grateful for.  There is so much to be grateful for and we often forget these simple pleasures in live.  The freedom we live with,  the safe neighborhoods our homes are in, or simple moments of playtime with our children.  The best way to get through hard times is to focus on the wonderful things we do have.

November is a great month to reflect on what we are most thankful for.  We will be doing activities all through this month.  Some things we can hang on the the fridge and some things my kids can play with.

Today we made a thankful book.   This printable book have off of  www.kinderplans.com.  I think we'll make another one this weekend we'll make on our own design.  It's a good way to start thinking of the things we are most grateful for. 

We used these Crayola Washable Paints. I love these paints.  They do wash out easily and they do come out of cloths. 

 Fluttershy's finger print turkey.  She was very cooperative.  Here's turned out nice looking.

 Rarities finger print turkey.  Her little finger was hard to make go where I wanted.  So her's is a silly turkey. 

After we were done I let them both go crazy and paint with their hands.  Messy, Messy, Messy.  Good thing the paint comes out.
