Bear World

bear woldBear World

On our trip to Yellowstone we stopped at bear world and was grizzly bears, black bears, wolves, baby bears, and a rear white elk.  The girls bear world highlight was the rides of course.  I was surprised to see how many bears they had in their drive though enclosure.  And when a wolf ran by, it surprised us.  They weren't their last time we came.  They are quite large.

Paul Bunyans' wood Pile & Black Rock Dessert

Summer Adventures
Paul Bunyan's wood pile

On Saturdays we loaded up the kids and took an adventure.  Our first stop was to Paul Bunyan's wood pile a very interesting hike up to an unusual lava formation.  The lava formed into 4 and 5 sided long tubes that look like logs.  It was a 1 mile hike.  the first part was easy, but as you can see by the point we ended, it turned into a really steep hike.
Can you see our tiny car in the distance?
 Here it is zoomed up.
One section of the formation had fallen away, making a arch.
Not sure what this creepy huge bug was, but they were everywhere. I think they were crickets.
Our next several stops had to do with collecting Obsidian in the Black Rock Dessert.
We make sever stops on the way and found lots of little smaller stones.  We were very excited to find them.  Little did we know that our last stop would be the best stop of all.
In this Obsidian quarry we found the most interesting mahogany obsidian. Very beautiful stuff.  The girls were excitedly collecting their treasures in a gushers fruit snacks container.
Fluttershy couldn't resist sliding down the giant hill of obsidian.
Look at the neat designs.  Along our journey we found black, snowflake, and mahogany obsidian.
Look in the picture above just below Fluttershy at the pile of huge pieces Daniel unearthed.  After we collected a huge bucket of our treasures we headed home.  What a fun trip we had.

A trip to the Farm

 Wheeler Farm
While we were out at Wheeler farm we saw the cuties Shetland pony babies.  There were two and the one on the right was only 1 month old.  He was so tiny.  Fluttershy wanted to ride him she kept saying she wanted to ride him.  We let her ride an adult one though.

Rarity got to ride her first horse today.  She was very excited to climb right on.
We enjoyed the little lambs, goats, turkeys, geese, horses, and a really ugly rat.

Day at the Zoo

Perfect spring day for a trip to the zoo.

We had the most wonderful day at the zoo on Saturday.  The weather was 78 degrees and perfect.  We got to the zoo just as it opened and had a good 2 hours without crowds.
We say elephants, tigers, ostriches, giraffes, camels,  snakes, rhinos, and so much more.
It's a sleeping sloth
My girls looking at the porcupines and turtles.
By the end of the day we all were tired and ready for a nap.  What a fun day for an adventure.
