Crystal Christmas Tree

Play dough Christmas trees

This is my favorite play dough recipe.  The texture is so smooth.  

1 cup white flour

1/4 cup salt

2 tsp food coloring

1Tbsp vegetable oil

2 Tbsp cream of tarter

1 cup water

Mix flour, salt, and cream of tarter in a medium pot.  Add water, food coloring, and oil.  Stir over medium heat for 3-5 minutes.  Don't worry if the mixture looks like a globby mess; it'll turn into dough.  When the mixture forms a ball in the center of the pot, turn off the stove and let it cool.  Then take it out of the pot and put it on a floured surface.  Knead it.  Store in a plastic bag in the fridge. 

This is Fluttershy's Christmas tree. 

Use green play dough with colored beads or marbles. Children can use the green play dough to make Christmas trees and add the beads or marbles for ornaments.

Rectangle Christmas Trees

  I laid the rectangles out in front of Fluttershy and had her put them in order from largest to smallest.  Then we glued them on from largest to smallest up to the star.  Creating a Christmas tree.   I got this idea from pinterest.

Christmas Crayons

 Chrismas crayons. This activity was great for fine motor skills.  I had Fluttershy help me remove the crayon labels.  It was a little frustrating her at times but I tried to help her work through her it helping her learn patience.  

We had the oven at 225 and it only took 5-10 minutes in the oven. 

Now on the making a drawing.

In staying with the Christmas themed activities, today we used confessions of a homeschooler's Christmas preschool pack.

When we do preschool I try to use the same activities for both my girls.  I just simplify them to Rarity's level.  If the activity is too advanced I'll pull block, play dough, markers, or the many other things we have and let her do free play with them while her sister is working.

These were too cute not to make.  I saw them on Pinterest and wanted to make them with Fluttershy. I know normally they don't have pink noses, but Fluttershy had to have pink.

Print out the mats on card stock paper and use Red, Yellow, and Blue paint. For example, “a” is red, “b” is blue, and “c” is yellow. Children will find all of the letter a’s on the mat and cover them with the finger print of the right color. - A peach is sometimes the "fruit" representing gentleness because of its softness.  Peaches easily bruise and one must be very gentle when handling them.

Fun mixing the paints together.   What colors will they make?  This time a weird purple.

This is the first time they've been able to play with the chalk board that Grandpa gave them for their birthday's.  I finally went and got chalk. 

Christmas Lap book

Each of these flap books has the meaning behind each Christmas symbol. 

I used packaging tape to laminate them so that they could stay intact after my kids get done playing with them.  That way we can play with them next Christmas. 

I used different definitions of each symbol then she did on her's.  I just googled Christmas symbols meaning.  I liked the ones I used better.  They were more clear.

10 Days of Christmas
