Read Books:

Letters (and rhymes) - C, G, O

C - curve around
G - curve and a dash
O - big curve and close

Start by creating the characters using play dough snake

Posters letter(s) –

C- Paste cupcake stickers on Letter C  (an alternate is C for Crayons)

G-  Use glitter glue or spread glue over the letters and sprinkle with glitter.

O-  Paint or color with the color orange.

Math - Opposites - Liquid & Solids (make object lesson)

 - Water and ice
 - While making meals, have your child assist and discuss the liquids and solids that go into recipes.

Celery Science - Cut celery so the veins are open & cups of water with food coloring added; place the celery stalk into the water.  Check daily to see if the celery is drinking up the water and the veins are becoming that color.

Writing Skills-  Balllon Vertical lines worksheet

Review Shapes-  Circles

Letter characters-  Uppercase C Characters

Play-   Play Go Fish - use various numbers or letters
Do you have a letter that says /f/?
Do you have the number 4?
Do you have the uppercase letter "O"?

Information-   Dial 911
- Children need to know how to get a hold of the police department, fire department, and hospital in case of an emergency.  Now that the child can recite their phone number and address, the child is ready to practice this.  Have the child dial a play phone and tell the "dispatcher" their names, the emergency, and the address of their home.  This is also the time to discuss what denotes an emergency and that 911 is never to be called for any other reason that a true emergency.
- This is a good time to have a practice fire drill with your family.  Discuss a meeting place outside the home.

10 Days of Christmas: Day 9

1plus1plus1equals1's  10 Days of Christmas learning.

 Fluttershy having fun tracing her numbers 8 and 9.

 Coloring by shape.  Great worksheet to review Fluttershy's shapes.

 Almost done with the alphabet.  Tomorrow we can make all there worksheets into a book for Fluttershy to play with.

 We decided to use our bingo markers to decorate our leaves.  Stickers would have been fun too if I had them. 

 Counting to 10 stockings.  We used these a few different ways.  1st I have Fluttershy line them up in order from 1 to 10.  2nd I helped her count by 2's up to 10. Last we counted backward from 10 to 1.

Coloring by number.  Fluttershy isn't all that fond of coloring so she was just happy to color just the number and not the pictures.  That's ok.  She was able to locate all her numbers and color them with the right colors.

10 Days of Christmas: Day 8

J is for Jesus

 My kiddos have been having fun with these dot paints.  We got our at The Dollar tree.  

Can't beat $1.  Fluttlyshy's got the idea of putting the dots in the circles. Rarity on the other hand was having so much fun just making the dots she didn't care where she put them.

Ornament sorting

  We played by decorating with all the same colored ornament, then we picked different patterns. 

Nativity Patterns

Fluttershy and I took turns starting new patterns and having the other complete it.

These are a few of the other things we did today just for fun.

Hide and seek play dough

I hid red colored elbow noodles in the play dough to create a fine motor skills activity.  My kids always love this activity.

I provided small water bottles that the girls used to fill up and pour out and a muffin tin to sort their items as they wanted.

Stain glass window ornament

 We made this ornament to hang in the window.  We used a cookie cutter, transparent buttons, and Elmer's glue.  I looks cool with the light showing through.  It turned out cool, but I will use the clear Elmer's glue next time. It will show more like stain class. 

10 Days of Christmas: Day 6

Fluttershy's lovely Christmas tress was painted with water colors.  Something new for her.  She did a very good job staying mostly within the tree.  Rarity's work of art was done with finger paints and a brush.  Though I think I see some hand prints in there a little bit.  The rag I cleaned her hands up with would agree.
