Sorting Pasta

Here is one of the easiest sorting activities you can easily make. For those of us on a tight budget this a nice activity.  I purchased 4 types of pasta $.88 a bag at the grocery store and dyed each type 4 different colors.  This way I can have my kids sort in a few different ways.  

• By color
• By pasta type 

 To dye your pastas:

Use 1 Tbsp of vinegar with several drops of food coloring.  I put mine in a zip lock baggy so I can put the pasta in with it and just shake it.  The kids love this part.

What do you do when the power goes out?

Here's how we turned a boring night

into extraordinary night. 

The crazy weather last night caused us a 7 hour power outage last night.  The kiddos didn't care though.  It was a party for them.  They each got a flashlight and several glow bracelets.  What could have been a bummer night, turned out to be one of our funnest.  They didn't want to go to bed even though I let them stay up 1 hr past their bedtime so we could play.

 Snack by flashlight.  

Who knew that eating with a flashlight could be so fun.

It was exciting.

 For the first time we discovered shadows puppets.

 I saved the best for last,  reading with a flashlight by the fire.  Very cool.  My girls were enjoying every bit of last night.  So what do you do when the power goes off?

Glowing Fun

 What fun activities do you do with glow sticks?

I'm starting to discover there are many fun activities that you can do with glow sticks.  

For example, today we used them a couple of ways today for a fun bath.  

1-The top picture was made by cutting open the glow stick and pouring the liquid into water.  Close the lid and you have a glowing lantern.  I put it by the side of the tub to give some cool light.  

2-The second picture is self explanitory.  Let the glow sticks light up the bath.  

Just a couple of ways to make bathtime more fun.

Christmas Crayons

 Chrismas crayons. This activity was great for fine motor skills.  I had Fluttershy help me remove the crayon labels.  It was a little frustrating her at times but I tried to help her work through her it helping her learn patience.  

We had the oven at 225 and it only took 5-10 minutes in the oven. 

Now on the making a drawing.
