Tie Dyed Shamrocks

 We have had a lot of fun playing around and discovering fun ways to make these tie dyed shamrocks.  

First of all you'll need:

Coffee filters

Markers

food dye

water

Spray bottle

Scissors

 First of all you'll need cut cut your coffee filters into your shapes.  We cut ours out like you would a heart.  Once you have you shape try to press your filter so it lies flat.

Our first technique we used Crayola markers.  Color the filter with lots of color.  Makes sure that most of it has color so that the colors should blend together most of the filter.

Fluttershy was working on her's while I tried out a rainbow.  

Once your filter has a lot of color, place it on a pan and lightly spray the filter so that the colors bleed and spread.  I placed the pan so that it was slanted encouraging the colors to run downward.

The marker was fun and got really good results.  Our next method was food colors.  Drop several colors all around your filter.  The food color immediately spreads and covers the filter.  To get the colors to completely cover the filter use the spray bottle on the pan and lightly spray it.  The colors will spread even further.

Lay them on a towel to try.  They dry very fast. Taking about 20 minutes

 You'll need:

1 egg carton for each kid

paint

brushes

Glitter

 It's nothing fancy, but I though they could use them to count beans and marbles.

My girls love having little books to carry around especially Rarity.  Since she doesn’t know her colors yet I thought we’d make her a color book. 

You need:

2- 5”X5” colored cardstock

8- 5”X5” white cardstock.

8 paint color samples.

Ribbon to tie for binding

We took our cardstock with the colored pages on the outside and tied ribbons on for their binding.  Next, I had the girls cut the color paint samples and put them in the order they wanted.

Next we used packaging tape to past them on the pages and I’d write the name of the color on each page.  So simple and the girls love them. 

Week 20: Day 1 Simple Works of Art

No two are alike

 

Step 1:

Shave at least 4 different colored crayons into 

separate bowls using a large pencil sharpener.

 Step 2:

Fold a paper in half and create a design using the crayon shavings.

 Step 3:

Fold paper in half and place between two towels and iron till the crayons are melted.

 Step 4:

Open and let cool.

Week 20

Rectangle Christmas Trees

  I laid the rectangles out in front of Fluttershy and had her put them in order from largest to smallest.  Then we glued them on from largest to smallest up to the star.  Creating a Christmas tree.   I got this idea from pinterest.

Christmas Crayons

 Chrismas crayons. This activity was great for fine motor skills.  I had Fluttershy help me remove the crayon labels.  It was a little frustrating her at times but I tried to help her work through her it helping her learn patience.  

We had the oven at 225 and it only took 5-10 minutes in the oven. 

Now on the making a drawing.

Homemade Christmas tree ornaments

This is a super simple recipe:

Go to Living life intentionally for the recipe.  Her's are really fancy.  I think we'll try them again in a few days and try them her way. 

I found her recipe while I was looking for a baking play dough recipe.  I wanted to make hand prints of my girls.

 

We baked these for 4 hours on 225.

Preschool Palace fun                                                            

Review square shape: Square poster,  and other posters from previous months.

Activity: Shape memory match. Take several index cards. Take 2 index cards and draw with a heavy marker 1 learned shape on each card. Repeat for all shapes learned, maybe even some new ones! Lay the cards upside down on the table and play the memory game with the shape cards.

Craft: Three colored crayon art. Let child choose three crayons. Then tape the three crayons together into one large crayon. Provide paper to make a design on paper using three-colored crayon.

We have a bunch of file folder games that I've made.  Today we went through several of them.  We covered shapes, big/small, numbers, and alphabets. 

Here is our craft for today.  We taped 3 crayons together and drew pictures.  Adds a fun twist to coloring.
